Fancy a romantic movie? Me and me sis watched Music and Lyrics during the CNY break.. was kinda sceptical about it at first, tot it was another sappy love movie.. but i was pleasantly suprised. Thanks dear for making the right movie choice.. love you!
The movie’s about a former 80’s star from the group POP (Hugh Grant plays Alex Fletcher) trying to make a comeback and find the opportunity by writing a song for teen pop princess, a hybrid of Britney and Christina (Haley Bennett plays Cora Corman). Unfortunately for Alex, while he’s truly talented in composing melody, he is somewhat clueless about writing lyrics… he was pressed for time to complete the demo for Cora when he heard his plantlady (Drew Barrymore plays Sophie Fisher) muttering words to his newly composed melody while she was watering his plants..
To make it simple Alex managed to convince Sophie to co-write the song with him… and they get to know each other during the process.. and sparks fly.. and then they fell in love.. (romantic movie kan??) This movie can be endearingly funny if u pay attention to what the characters are saying, and not to forget the writers did a good job in creating Cora’s character… and made their point on the reality on pop princess.. hehehe… and of course, for those who grew up in the 80’s like me, you’ll be hilariously reminded of how ridiculous the music videos back then… the mullet, the make up, the shiny outfits, the dances… hehehehe… i was laughing to tears when Hugh Grant shakes his booty in his ‘then’ music video… ahhh.. good old days…
This is a good date movie…or can be a perfect ending for a girls day out.. strictly not for guys whose are ego/macho status are as big as the Petronas Twin Towers.. hehe.. Nonetheless, it was a perfect ending to a great day out with my sis.
So here are the lyrics to the theme song… pretty meaningful to me and some of the people i know that will definitely find their way back into love…*smile*
