a day in my life

Lucky me, my sis has kindly come for a visit, she came on wednesday and will be leaving tonite.. huhu sedihnya… she has to since my family will be going to KL next week without me… huhu lagi sedih…. takper… we will join them later next week…

My only sister, Siti Fadhilatun Aisyah, born Nov 20, 1989… that gives us a good 11 years apart… she is my best friend, my confidante at times and i love her very deeply… though she’s younger than me, sometimes her maturity amazes me maybe coz i can never shake the image of her in my mind… when she waits for me everytime i got home from UKM.. with her ponytails and big expectant eyes with thick eyelashes (yeah, she’s blessed in this way more than me..) and all skinny and tall (again.. she’s blessed!)… i always get her ribbons for her ponytails, cute purses to put her coins & stuff, hairclips etc.. accessories.. what girl can resist them??

Being the youngest, she’s always the victim… selalu kena buli with her 2 brothers and me.. hehe.. nasib arrr… but we love her all the same. She has this high-pitched-irritating-at-times voice but our home will be so quiet without her. Though my parents had hoped that she being the youngest would stay with them the longest… she went to boarding school just after std 6.. and stayed there (against all odds.. hehe) until she finishes her SPM earlier this month.

Over the years, I’ve look at her in different ways. She can be such a hard headed person, but she has the kindest heart. She is very loud, but she is also very sensitive. She is one of the most hardworking people i know… tapi kadang2 kuat tido jugak laaa… comes with the teenage era i should think..we had our rough times, biasalah sisters mana ada tak bergaduh kan.. she’s one of my rock, whenever my heart was broken, she helped me through the ordeal… being firm and objective like i m the younger one, she the big sis.

I clearly remember when i wanted to buy my Vios, she actually did solat hajat for a few nites to ask the Almighty so that i get what i wanted… hehe.. i m so touched when i found out (which was a long time after). as i am typing this, she’s actually folding my clothes (hehe… kerahan tenaga!) sambil tgk cerita hindustan kat TV… typical her!

And now she’s at the crossroad of her life, waiting and deciding of what to do next.. still undecided. i told her to take a day at a time.. I know that she will make the right decision.. she’s a smart girl, a great sis, an amazing daughter and a wonderful friend.. she’ll do just fine.. i know it. I love you sis!!

I had a satisfying day today… though i start slow… the medicines are still making me feel a little woozy (partly due to not being able to sleep at all last nite) but things start to pick up… i am now writing my research (yay!!), heard my talented brother as a DJ RUM3T on jiwangFM all afternoon, my sis arrived from SP and the best part I had dinner with my sweetheart, "I love you sweetheart!!"… *smile*

Rite now my sis is watching a Bollywood CD, she is a die-hard fan of those movies.. not so sure of the title but Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta (i just love her dimples!), Rani Mukherji, Abishek & Amitabh Bachan stars in it… To be honest my earliest recollection of watching a Bollywood movie is the one with elephants in it I believe its Hathi Mere Sathi..(forgive me if i spell it wrong, Farah Naaz.. hehe).. and dun remember being a great fan of bollywood during my school days..hmm..

And then come my uni days… one fateful day, i rode on my trusted red Honda Cup ADE 3341 (yeah, i got meself a honda back in my uni days.. haha) to meet up with some coursemates for discussion at their house in Bangi Fasa 3. Was amazed to see all of my friends there were glued in front of the PC watching a Bollywood movie…hehe.. Dil To Pagal Hai… I still remember!! Shah Rukh, Karisma Kapoor & Madhuri Dixit stars in this one.. its about the love triangle (biasalah cerita Hindustan kan..) that revolves between 2 dancer/singer/actor.. (i dunno lah exactly what they do) and a newcomer.. and mcm biasalah hang suka kat aku, aku suka kat dia tapi dia suka kat hang… hehe.. such a mix up but the its filled with catchy tunes and dance moves. Heck, i remember some of us who actually did try to learn those moves as a workout..hehe.. me? no lah.. was quite chubby back then, i’m just responsible for purchasing the OST.. hehe.

And then the demand of Bollywood movie was quite a boom in my uni days.. and one movie after another… always enjoy watching them after a day’s lecture and labworks..but my all time favorite has to be Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.. there’s just something about this movie  that really touches my heart.. maybe its the theme, or the scenery, or the catchy tunes… for me no other Bollywood movie can top this one i will always love to watch this movie over and over again…*smile*

*yawn*.. it is almost 11pm and i still got another hour to wait before i take my medicine.. and i m totally sleepy, cant wait to crawl into my big comfy bed… huhu… this morning i woke up with a great feeling, and thinking how happy i am not having to travel to Alor Star for work…

So i started my day with a mug of Milo and some butter crackers… talked to my mom, sweetheart & best friend Asma, YM-ed with my dad.. the day was going great for me.. i even started typing my literature review… and then suddenly it happened… i started to feel cold… menggigil satu badan, even my teeth was chattering… but my body feels very very hot… pelik sangat2. within an hour, i wasn’t able to stand and had to lie down or else i will surely pitam…

So i called my brother to come and take me to the clinic… kesian dia, he had to come all the way from Perlis. My nearest neighbour was in Alor Setar and An is also working in Alor Setar, so he’s my only option… would’ve drive on my own if i can, but was worried that i might black-out or something behind the wheel. The doctor did some tests.. and he said i got a bacterial fever… how weird is that?

I got home… sleep some more and woke up feeling a lil bit hungry and then i realized all i had since morning is just 5 pcs of crackers… made meself a sandwich (which btw i m very very good at… me the sandwich maker.. rite sayang?? hehe…) and now i am giving typing my lit review another go… hehe… managed to add another page… jadilah…

What can i do if my Research Assistant is sleeping on the job?? Hehe… i love you anyway, Maxie..

Aaargghhh… penatnya nak kena bangun pagi2… actually there’s no problem in getting up and going to work in mornings but i find it especially hard to start my day if any of these conditions applies…

1. It is a Friday or Saturday (btw for those who didn’t know.. Sunday IS a working day for Kedah, Kelantan & Terengganu)
2. I have to travel more than 40km to get to work
3. I had a lovely time with my family or sweetheart the nite before… so rasa dimanjakan lagi lah… hehe

But then again… if you give good reason to come… like paying me for example.. hehe..(show me the money baby..) well i will come.. what person in their right mind wouldn’t??

Anyways.. my good friend from Singapore, Kelana arrived yesterday in Alor Star to attend a kenduri here… pity him naik bas lama gila baru sampai.. then took him for his lunch in Dee Nasi Pumpong (yup, kedai yg dpt good reviews from Jalan-jalan Cari Makan kat TV3) and then later took him to his hotel… traffic was quite bad yesterday, by Alor Star standards that is, partly due to the Astro Karnival happening in medan Pekan Rabu area, so many roads are closed.. then there’s the Ekspo Peladang near the stadium.. plus it is a weekend, so many people keluar jalan-jalan.

After he checked in we went to pick up my sweetheart at his place.. you see i m not originally from Kedah, so sometimes i just don’t know where to take ppl jalan-jalan… so since my sweetie An is a Kedah boy thru and thru so he’s a better expert than me in this matter… we took Kelana to the ekspo, since i m planning to go there meself and its basically a one stop shopping centre.. coz our friend wanted to get some things for his mom and aunt and he managed to get them all at reasonable prices.. with a little haggling included.. courtesy of yours truly.. hehehe..

Later we went for dinner at Swiss Land in Pekan Simpang Kuala and I had Blackpepper Fish for dinner, An had Sizzling Butter Rice with Blackpepper Chicken and Kelana had Sizzling Blackpepper Deer Steak… in all the food was delicious and we had a good time. Thank you so much Kelana for dinner and yeah, for the wedding present *wink* and the perfumes… byk betul bawak buah tangan kali nie

Arrived home at 11.30pm… hugged and kissed my darling cats.. rindu sebab 2 hari tak jumpa… huhu… and went to bed with the TV on… had a great day.

Yesterday i had to attend a meeting with PSB, UUM library on behalf of my fellow colleague who is on maternity leave… for those who know Pn Suria, she has given birth to a healthy baby boy (3.12kg) on Dec 6 in Ipoh Specialist Centre… so thats mean she’ll be away for awhile, and her classes will be taken by yours truly and Nasrun..  Heartiest congratulations to Suria and hubby Amir for the long awaited bundle of joy!

Back to the meeting, basically it was meant for a committee including representatives from each faculty & the librarians… to find ways to utilize the library better for students and academia… so in future there will be no more of students not being able to get the materials needed in the library… lecturers are also encouraged to get students make use of library facilities, most importantly the online databases..which i for a fact realized that many students are totally clueless to use it. my students rather use google or yahoo to get the information required, and it is a shame since UUM has one of the best online database in Malaysia… isk isk isk.. so in the coming semester, i will make sure that all my students need to know how to use the online database to find the materials for the assignments… kalau tak… fail!!! hehe… jagalah hangpa… hehe!

Maybe its the dress codes that discouraged students to use the library and the transportation problems… we had brought this up and yeah, lets see what happen.. in a few YEARS time… adat lah tuh.

Last weekend my friend Wan and I went to Ogy’s wedding, a very close friend of mine in Perlis… i knew her from our time in UKM, though we weren’t so close back then..we’ve known each other better since. She’s one of my travel buddy alongside Wan and Lieyn during my life-changing trip to Holland… and i think i can say that it is one of her life changing trip too… *wink*.. hehe

Ogy got engaged in September, and with just one lafaz she is now married to her darling Rizal. I m happy things got better for her.. for she has endured so much in the past.. and what can i say, i am a sucker for happy endings She looked great too, ramping sangat, a pretty bride for a deserving groom… to my friend Ogy & hubby Rizal, I wish you great happiness and love for all your lives together… hope you make each other smile and laugh, and be each other’s shoulders to cry on when the going gets rough… you r in my prayers.

being there on that day, sharing her joy makes me smile… building up my anticipation for my own wedding… and sent me in a momentary panic, thinking.. "Alamak! banyaknya benda tak siap lagi.." yeah, weddings are all about hard work and big money.. those who have done it will surely agree with me… so when i got home, i started to figure out the things to be done and allocate 2 hours of my time every day for my wedding preparations…nak save budgetkan.. kena la DIY semuanya hehe… lucky i enjoy doing these things… it is my therapy after a day’s work in the office.. *wink*

hey all.. wassup…

been a loooooooooong time since my last post, not that i really care about it.. hehe, but really wanted to resume my blogging hobby but last sem was a hectic one with the stupid TITAS thingie and teaching a new code… not to mention a lot’s been going on in the college.. and then Ramadhan comes, i keep myself busy with our little kuih raya business venture… and that turned out quite well.. (btw if anyone nak beli kuih raya for Aidiladha… tempahan dibuka sekarang..hehe).

After last Aidilfitri, my darling daddy got quite sick, so the weeks after raya were filled with trips to hospital back and forth… it really breaks my heart to see him unwell, but what can you do.. as a daughter u must be strong for the sake of the family, moreover no one else was available to assist my mom, and class was already over so i decided to take 2 weeks of leave to be home… though i was really hoping to save some leave for next year… hmm..sacrifices Btw, to my students, terribly sorry i was not able to be there before the finals..

My dad’s better now, after a month and 3 hospitals… and hanging in there. He’s a fighter, my dad… and i know he’ll make it through. End of january he’ll be going for an angiogram in Penang.. and hopefully things will be better for him
